In Expanded Role, Marr Will Lead Business Development for Welton’s Multi-Channel, Multi-Geographical Growth Strategy
New York, NY – September 5, 2024 – Welton Investment Partners (Welton), the alternative investment manager focused on the pursuit of consistent returns across market environments, today announced that it has appointed William Marr as Head of Business Growth. This is an expanded role for the alternative investment strategy veteran who joined Welton in April 2022 as Senior Managing Director to launch and lead Welton’s Wealth Management Group. In this newly created role, Mr. Marr will lead the business development for Welton’s multi-channel, multi-geography strategy to meet increased investor demand as newer segments seek to add alternatives to their portfolios.
Mr. Marr joined Welton with over 25 years of experience working in the alternatives sector, holding senior positions at State Street Global Advisors, Bank Julius Baer and Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management. As the head of the Wealth Management Group, Mr. Marr has provided his leadership to streamline access to Welton’s institutional quality investment solutions to the wealth management community, including brokerage houses, RIAs, private banks, and family offices.
Under Mr. Marr’s leadership in 2023, Welton announced the firm’s partnership with iCapital, the leading global fintech platform driving access and efficiency in alternative investing for the wealth management industry. The collaboration provides the wealth management community with access to Welton’s multi-strategy macro program.
Additionally, in July 2024, in partnership with Catalyst Funds, an award-winning provider of alternative investment solutions, Welton announced the launch of the Catalyst/Welton Advantage Multi-Strategy Fund (CWEIX), a mutual fund that utilizes multiple asset classes and an active investment strategy that aims to provide diversification and potential advantages over equity investing alone. The new partnership marked a first for Welton with financial advisors now having access to its strategy through the new mutual fund product.

In previous roles, Mr. Marr led due diligence and allocated to hedge funds and CTAs, including as Global Head of Hedge Fund Research at Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management. He also headed Alternative Investments at Zurich-based Bank Julius Baer and Boston-based State Street Global Advisors. Most recently Mr. Marr founded and managed Granite Street Capital, a consultancy focused on developing and implementing growth strategies for alternative investment managers.
